The Difference In Your Community.

Sarah Chicoine, Guidance Councillor

The Empower Gaspé Project is a new project that began for Vision in January 2026. It is designed to strengthen employment and career outcomes for English-speaking job seekers across the Gaspésie region, including youth 16+, adults returning to the workforce, individuals navigating career changes, newcomers, and people experiencing barriers related to language, confidence, isolation, or access to services. The project aims to increase access to specialized career guidance within the English-speaking minority community and support individuals in developing realistic, meaningful pathways toward education, training, and employment.

As a Registered Guidance Counsellor with the Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d’orientation du Québec (OCCOQ), I provide specialized guidance counselling within the project. My role goes beyond traditional job-search support by helping clients explore their interests, aptitudes, values, strengths, and career readiness; clarify educational and occupational goals; navigate complex career transitions and return-to-work situations; and address personal or environmental barriers that may affect career decision-making. The overall goal is to help individuals better understand themselves, make informed choices, and develop sustainable career pathways that align with their strengths, circumstances, values, and aspirations.
