  • Supporting Youth, Strengthening Community

Creating opportunities to connect, grow, and feel a sense of belonging.

Our Bilingual Youth Project

The goal of our Bilingual Youth Project is to bring Anglophone and Francophone youth aged 12–17 together to build connections, form new friendships, and develop their second-language skills in a fun and welcoming environment.

We offer two organized lunchtime activities each week at the high school, along with monthly bilingual activities and events. All activities are shaped by the interests and ideas of local youth, ensuring they have opportunities to connect, participate, and build confidence in both languages.

We have recently opened Seascape Hangout, a bilingual, safe and welcoming space for youth located on the second floor of the Barachois Recreation Centre. Designed by and for local youth, the space offers a place to relax, connect, create, and learn while taking part in activities that support well-being and community involvement. Two youth coordinators will be on-site to lead engaging activities, workshops, and animations throughout the year.

The Seascape Hangout

The Seascape Hangout is a welcoming space created with local youth, for local youth. Located at the Barachois Recreation Centre, it’s a place to connect, create, learn, and take part in activities that support well-being, friendships, and community involvement.

With activities, workshops, and opportunities to hang out and try new things, The Seascape Hangout gives youth a safe and welcoming place to be themselves, build connections, and feel at home in their community. For current opening hours and updates, check out The Seascape Hangout on Facebook!

Youth Mental Health Initiative (YMHI)

The YMHI aims to increase the mental wellbeing of youth between the ages of 12 to 29 through mental health prevention, mental health promotion and mental health literacy.

The Thrive Outside Program

This mental health promotion program is designed for Secondary 4 students and includes four hands-on workshops led by an occupational therapist and an adventure guide.

Through wilderness survival activities such as building shelters, practicing search and rescue skills, and learning fire-making techniques, students develop problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills while building confidence in their own abilities.

The program encourages students to try practical strategies they can carry into their everyday lives, helping support their well-being, independence, and overall functioning.
